If you are new to Reiki or if it has been a while since your last Reiki session you may be wondering if there is anything you need to do to care for yourself post treatment. Here you will find a few helpful hints for the two or three days following your session to keep you feeling your best while you continue to benefit from your Reiki session.
- Drink Plenty of Water – Reiki energy heals your body (and mind) and depending on your particular needs Reiki can and does stimulate detoxification. Detoxing is beneficial and healing. You will want to increase your water consumption over the next two or three days. Staying hydrated will allow your body to more easily eliminate toxins and keep you feeling alert and refreshed as opposed to sluggish and sleepy. If you can, avoid beverages that contain caffeine, alcohol and sugar (real sugar or sugar substitutes). It would benefit you greatly to drink only filtered water or herbal tea.
- Eat Cleanly – Again, you are going through a detox so it would best for you to avoid processed foods. If you can, eat as cleanly as possible. Try to consume organic fruits and vegetables and organic grass-fed/grass-finished proteins that are properly sourced. The cleaner food you eat the better you will feel.
- Rest – Take it easy, if you can and allow the Reiki energy to continue working. Make an effort to get a good night’s sleep before your session as well as the day of and the day after. You decided to schedule a Reiki session to take care of yourself so go with that and be kind to yourself while you detox and heal.
- Feel Your Feelings – Reiki is healing for your mind as well as your body and as you know, Reiki will give you exactly what you need. As your body detoxes so does your mind and feelings/emotions may arise that need to be addressed or at the very least acknowledged. Whether your emotions appear as ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ these feelings should be felt without judgment for you to experience the deepest healing. You may want to laugh or you may want to cry, either is completely acceptable. Remember – it’s okay to feel your feelings but do make an effort not to get lost in them. You may find this is the perfect time to begin journaling, making note of what you are experiencing and in time you can review those notes to acknowledge how much you have healed and grown. Please Note: If you are experiencing difficulty in reconciling your feelings you should contact your Reiki Practitioner or Master for advice on how to proceed.
You should remember Reiki gives you exactly what you need, for some the healing process begins immediately and for others it can take days, weeks or even months for the healing to begin. Be patient, the Universe knows what it’s doing!
These few suggestions should assist you in feeling your best and getting the most out of your Reiki session. If you have any questions you should contact your Reiki Practitioner or Master, they should always be available to you should you need them.
Wishing You Peace, Love & Light –
Krissy
